About Us

Interested in joining an upcoming reading group meeting? Email cmg100[at]pitt.edu for more information.

Trauma-informed archival practice is an approach to archival work that recognizes the primary and secondary trauma present in archives, as well as the emotional experiences of archivists and researchers who work with them.

We welcome all who are interested in learning more about trauma-informed archival practice to join a reading group, organized by Scylla Humbert and Chelsea Gunn. Each month, we read and discuss articles and case studies selected by group members. This group is open to students, library and archives workers, and anyone who is interested in learning more about trauma-informed approaches to archival practice and research. While we are based in Pittsburgh, PA, we gather online using Zoom and welcome colleagues from Pittsburgh and elsewhere.
